Didn't they do a whole thing where the show runners were telling people to vote for them as a couple in some competition? I'm out of the loop and didn't care too much for the show. I don't know why it's a thing to be mad about though. They had the coyote girl and the possessed guy get together. Anything was possible on that train wreck.

Oh wow, I'm getting war flashbacks to this. It was the 2012 AfterElton shipping poll. The couples fighting for the lead were Dean/Castiel from Supernatural and Stiles/Derek from Teen Wolf. It started getting kinda intense when Castiel's actor tweeted about the poll and encouraged fans to vote for Destiel. Teen Wolf cast countered this by also tweeting and urging fans to vote for Sterek.

The poll caused all kinds of fights on fandom platforms because Teen Wolf fans thought the poll represented more than just which pair is more popular. To them, winning the poll would mean that Sterek could become canon, since their showrunner had been so vague about it. In the end Sterek won the poll, fans rejoiced and the ship never became canon lol.
