By the logic of some ITT, he was just a poor mentally ill soul who couldn't help it and you shouldn't talk badly about him. You see, it was his illness that compelled him to go and take innocent people with him into death. Not a conscious choice. Just how those poor alcoholics and junkies are compelled by their addiction to go and fuck over their families' lives along with their own without any active choice on their part.

I mean. That's not exactly true, otherwise the law wouldn't make distinctions about degrees, manslaughter, etc. If I pick up an axe, kick down someone's front door and hack them into pieces, that's different from a situation where someone else makes a mistake in wiring a house and it burns down, killing the owner.
