I’m fine with “woman’s (or anyone’s, really) love *helps fix* man (or anyone), like that G.K. Chesterton quote about the lesson of Beauty and the Beast is that a thing mist be loved before it is lovable. But for me the corollary is that the beastly character has to love someone/thing before they love their love interest. They have to have a pet they’re fond of, family they love, a creative pursuit they’re passionate about.

Kylo... doesn’t. He really is a whiny man-child. What’s in it for Rey? I think Adam Driver is attractive, but that’s not universal, plenty of people think he’s an ugly fucker. And he is sort of good at killing. He throws a lot of tantrums. He’s okay at negging. It seems like all his fans read the SW novelizations and came away full of pity for baby Ben Solo. If they finally show any of that backstory in the next movie, I think for me it’s gonna be too late to sympathize much and at most I’ll be thinking “cool motive, still murder,” if that.

DA.

We even saw a bit of his backstory in TLJ... and he goes and murders a bunch of students, any potential sympathy left me at that point because why is THAT his immediate reaction to Luke thinking he needs to kill him because there's darkness in him? Way to prove your uncle right dude.

He doesn't even hit 'cool motive, still murder' for me.

Negging, really?
