Man, that just depresses me. That kind of thinking is so typical of the illness.

My mom used to think she wasn't an alcoholic because she drank wine instead of hard alcohol. My best friend's mom thinks she's in control because she isn't drunk 24/7.

Like if that's the measure we use to determine whether someone is glamorizing their addiction and thus "deserving" of being mocked and insulted in death, then that's just sad.

I also hate how some alcoholics (especially functional/semi-functional ones) tend to be super sanctimonious and condescending when it comes to their opinion about "real drugs". My uncle used to be an alcoholic and yet he still thought he had some kind of high ground to lecture my mother about my brother's weed smoking habits. Just because something is a legal drug doesn't mean it's anz better/more harmless...
