I quit the show mid-season 3 and Sterek was alreayd big then, and I agree with you that there was nothing in the show that would suggest it. I specifically started watching because I'm part of what some call the "Migratory Slahs Fandom" and I'm not asamed of it. So you can imagine my disappointment when the sweet chemistry I was promised wasn't there.

However, it was stated multiple times both in the show and outside it that Stiles "could be" bisexual. That was blatant queerbaiting. "This character totally could be queer! Except they won't be. But keep on watching, to see if they might be!"

Yeah, there wasn't a lot in canon, especially since I'm primarily a Destiel shipper and holy crap, you can't throw a dead angel in SPN without hitting at least some eyesexin'. But the showrunner(s) absolutely did act like jerks, essentially promising the fandom they would consider it if they won some awards.... And then when the fandom got BIGGER and got super strength and started "STEREK SMASH!!" Then...they backed slowly away, forgot all their promises and threw Stiles into bed with coyote girl.
