They really are a wonderful way to start one's day.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-11 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I get kinda sad too if I don't get any, but man does it make my day when I get one.

same!

I was feeling like this for a while, but now I don't really care either way.

If only AO3 didn't have that "sort by kudos" option. It's like even the site thinks the more kudos = the better the fic.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-12 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
It's not a measure of how good the fic is, but it's a pretty good measure of how popular a fic is.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-12 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
This.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-12 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Comments, sure. Kudos are meaningless, as far as I'm concerned.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-12 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't call them meaningless but I agree that comments are superior. HITS are meaningless.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-12 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I love getting kudos. I don't find them meaningless at all. To me it means "I enjoyed reading this." which is enough for me when it comes to fic.

I love those e-mails too. Sometimes I get hung up about the ratio of kudos to hits on my fics, but I try not to.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-12 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly, take the good and try not to obsess on the bad. Plus, hits means people are reading, maybe they love your fic but they're at work on their lunch hour and the screen is too small, they skimmed it quickly and liked it, but forgot and then forgot to go back later....

(Anonymous) 2018-09-13 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Except hits can also be bots, or people clicking it but immediately clicking the "back" button. No way to tell if they've actually read it, let alone enjoyed it.
