Yea, I could have worded it better. I don't know why, but I kinda get the feeling that a lot of reverse harem authors/readers do think their characters are equal tho. Like, they think the heroine is strong and stands up for herself, but she always ends up falling back into shitty romance heroine tropes.

I think that's one of the big problems in the romance genre as a whole. Just about any author you ask will say their heroine is strong and independent, but they have pretty shaky ideas on what that means. Sometimes it does mean an intelligent heroine who can think for herself, etc. Other times it means the cliched "feisty" heroine who slaps the alpha male hero and pouts a lot before she rewards whatever douchey behavior earned him a slap in the first place.
