Re: Please help restore my faith in humanity
The one about the boy with the painted nails is so nice to hear, I've seen several customers over the summer holidays refuse to buy something for their boy saying "No you can't have that, it's too girly/pink/cutesy." It's such an outdated attitude that needs to die out.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-13 01:04 am (UTC)(link)Yes! It was kind of nice to have a reason to remember those really nice moments. I swear I see really nice people every day, but the rude ones really do overshadow them somehow. Even it was only one, they can really ruin your day.
That's why I included the story. It always breaks my heart when there are little boys playing with the fake jewellry or want some pink candy and the (grand)parents are like "No, put that back, that's only for girls." (you know, in that weird '~and girls are inferior to you' tone)
I hate those coded toys so much. :/
So that little boy and his mother really make my day every time I see them.
Just today I had a customer support/defend me when another one was being rude (you know, the usual drill, acting as if I personally make the prices). That was super nice.
I also remember some giving me tissues and everything way back when a customer made me cry (I was a really sensitive plant when I first started out).
Re: Please help restore my faith in humanity
My dad and I had a strained conversation with my gran when she came to visit once, because she was "worried" about my little boy cousin liking pink and wanting to try on dresses. I can almost understand it with the elderly because gender roles/attitudes were so strict when they were growing up, but seeing it being enforced by parents in this day and age really gets to me.
Customers who step in and deter the rude ones are the best. Most people will just look awkward and pretend they didn't see/hear anything. I'm sorry that twat made you cry, though. :(
