I've never wanted kids, but I love animal stuff. Including dudes being gentle, patient and parental with animals big and small - it's satisfying and makes me feel good about us as a species. I fully understand that I'm often projecting maternal instincts all over non-human animals, and I see no problem with that as long as I still understand they're... animals. I'd rather do that than be like some people who have kids when they really want a pet or get a pet when they really want a kid.
