Either because it is gone or because you grew out of it?

I miss skating rinks. :( All the ones I remember have gone out of business or are in terrible condition.

the very specific cheese curds from the Lion's Club that they sold at the county fair where I grew up. Perfect batter, perfect deep-fry. I've found a food truck in town that has something very similar, it captures the melty texture and grease quotient, but it isn't perfect.

down with crunchy breaded cheese curds, give me all the deep fried greasy gooey curds.

I miss the woods that used to be around my house. Razzin' frazzin' infill taking away my razzin' frazzin' forest.

Good drive-in movie theaters.

Hydrox cookies. I heard they came back but I haven't had a chance to go scout around more stores for them and they aren't sold in the places I usually go for groceries and things.

Climbing trees, due to both a lack of good climbing trees and knowing I wold feel like a weirdo if I'm only climbing it just to sit in it for a while (and the knowledge that if I did this in a city park or somewhere, a cop or park employee would just come and tell me to get down).

The difficulty of finding Hydrox cookies is a thing, unfortunately.

I found some at Big Lots purely by accident and they were delicious.

I had to google Hydrox cookies because I've never heard of them. They look like Oreos?

Same here. I'd say that 20% of the changes have been good, the rest haven't.

I feel you.
We have a big chain supermarket. You would think that would be a good thing, but we already had a general store and a butcher, baker, and several other small stores that will probably go out of business now. They're all owned by families I know.

I'm trying to buy now and I don't think there's any way in hell I can afford to because people from the cities bought up the coastline and built mansions. They turned it into a luxury destination or some shite. It's traditionally a blue collar town. A lot of my elderly neighbours are struggling with the cost of living going up. It's awful.

not having to worry about money

Spending a chunk of every summer in northern California redwood country. My parents are dead, the friends we used to visit have mostly moved, and a lot of their land is vineyards now. Also I can’t drive and am too poor to afford a month off work.

Camp Mather

Drive-in movies. They could be really fun. (Yeah yeah I'm old.)

Hawaiian Punch. I used to love that stuff when I was a kid... not sure they even make it anymore but I don't think I could tolerate it now. It'd just be way too sweet!

And it doesn't really fit your question but what I really miss is:

* having both parents still alive
* summer vacation
* really amazing ability to sleep and wake up refreshed
* total lack of back pain and other body aches and issues
* NO FUCKING PERIODS
* financial security or at least not having that be MY problem

Being excited for Halloween, school starting and getting out for summer, summer break, not having to worry about grown up stuff like work/bills/money/healthcare.

Living in the present and not worrying about the future.
My grandparents' house in FL. It's close to Orlando and sits in a wooded area. I was always enchanted by the jungle-like atmosphere and the promise of going to Disney World.
Going to theme parks with my family.
Getting excited for Halloween and Christmas.
