Speak for yourself. Every sacrifice has hit me in the gut with how sad it is, and as for "never the answer," given the situations presented where it's "either this person dies or the one person who can keep everyone else from dying" or, in Michelle's case where she's got nothing to look forward to anymore and wasted about a hundred years of her life waiting for someone who wasn't ever going to come back because stuff happened, I... Can't blame them for their choices (especially when all she wanted was to be reunited and reborn with her beloved which is legit a thing in this world).

As for you complaining about us killing non-human enemies, I wonder if you ever made it to Trial Isle where here's monsters the just chill, or run into any of the friendly monsters. There's even some fridge horror me and my wife have discussed, given that it point out that humans can become monsters. But largely, you're not going to get anything but more pain and heartache if those non-humans survive because they're not going to stop--they delight in their evil, and want to hurt anyone and everyone they can.

Really, though, this game is a breath of fresh air from more "realistic" fantasy things that go dark and edgy and nix all that stuff because, honestly, that's overdone now. It's also got mostly good writing and I've loved it.

(Also there's implications at the Academy that there are plenty of monsters out there that don't want to fight.

They won't be attacking you for you to notice them most of the damn time.)
