126. It makes me sick to my stomach too. I have hard time believing that the same people who have no trouble stretching Sylar's storyline beyond S1 would be incapable of letting Maya keep her dignity and her life (or better yet, give her *GASP* a better storyline!), so if she's killed off, it will be because of a bias. I have no respect for creators who are either incapable of keeping their spine together under fandom pressure or choose fan service over actual effort in the story.

Also, those who think only possible future for Maya is death? Please educate yourselves about Women in Refrigerators-syndrome (http://www.unheardtaunts.com/wir/). (Stephanie Brown (http://girl-wonder.org/robin/) makes a good individual example. For more visual example, try this Supernatural-vid (http://www.imeem.com/luminosity/video/MubmmEnZ/luminosity_sisabet_spn_womens_work_art_video/).)

Or Nathan. He had a perfectly meaningful, wonderful death scene in 1x23, but was brought back and spent S2 sit in a corner and be grumpy and blame his mom for his mistakes. I boggle every time I see someone name Nathan's storyline as one of the better in S2.

Fan service surely played a large role in keeping him alive. I don't think it's the only factor, but it does worry me that one characters gets such support while others don't. People asked for Maya's death in the same ways they asked for Nathan to be brought back. I even saw a post that simultanously asked for Nathan's survival, Maya's death, and for the creators to finally have the guts to kill off a popular white, male character, instead of only coloured and female ones. No kidding. Heroes fandom is hilarious.

Wow. The void of logic in that is beyond description. You're not well, Heroes fandom. Not well at all.

As for Nathan, I love Adrian Pasdar as an actor and I didn't want Nathan to die in either season finale, but it really doesn't make sense for him to stick around anymore. What exactly is he going to do in S3? Pat Peter on the back and tell what a great person he is? His characterization in S2 consisted of being sad about Peter's death and being glad that he was alive. That was better than Maya's entire existence? And I'm asking this as a fan of Nathan.

Thoughts on NP and Maya (S2 spoiler alert)

The whole Nathan-being-alive storyline made no sense. None at all. Transfusion of a regenerist's blood can bring someone close to death back to life? Okay, that's a cool universe "rule", but Nathan? Really? He had no function of his own. All he did was sit around thinking "My brother's dead. Wah. My daughter should go to the man who raised her with her problems. Wah." His entire purpose in the second season was to serve as an emotional contrast to "Cold Hard Bitch" Mama Petrelli, who shot Nathan when he and others tried to go public with news of the heroes/mutations.

With Maya, on the other hand, you have the "can kill people with her tears" thing. She's a fugitive in Mexico, and an illegally-immigrating fugitive in the US. She's a cha

*character who actively doesn't want her powers (and for good reason). Sylar was good for her confidence, even if he is a sociopath. No idea what that will do to her if she changes/changed her mind about keeping the powers. Her brother's dead, it's Sylar's fault, and I can't remember if she knows any of this.

Oh, and her storylines weren't tied up at all.

I'm sort of in the camp that thinks Nathan should go away, in a hospital on life support if not completely dead. His power's known, it's basic, and it's cloned by Peter. There's no reason for special FX to petition to keep him around. Also, it no longer fits Nathan's character, as all his apparent ambition is gone.

Maya knows Sylar killed her brother, and she seemed ready to kill him for it. I doubt she will forgive him anytime soon. I don't mind that nothing about her was tied up yet, because this means she has a personal goal next season, namely to kill the bastard.

I miss S1 Nathan.

I disagree. There are characters way more obsolete than Nathan. Like Claire or Sylar, for example. They keep doing the same thing over and over, and even with all the screen time they had on S2 the writers couldn't make them interesting anymore.

Nathan was practically put in the backburner on s2 but he had a few good scenes in that season. If Tim Kring doesn't spend the whole S3 trying to make the audience like Maya/Mohinder's love story maybe we get to see him in a good storyline again.

Agreed about Claire. If I have to watch one more minute of her teenage sob story, I may jab my own eyeballs out. But Sylar? First of all, he barely had any screentime at all in season two (he was only in five episodes), and I don't think it's accurate to say he was doing "the same thing over and over." Season one was all about him trying to gain as many powers as possible. Season two was about him being stripped of his powers and thus suddenly thrown back into his insignificant existence. Two totally different mindsets.

That said, I do agree with you that his storyline could have been a lot more interesting than it was. I tend to view the whole thing (rather bitterly) as an opportunity for character development that was essentially completely wasted.
