Why thank you! I've been a Cousin for a very long time (that would be a fan of LaCroix, if you aren't familiar with the faction names) and so of course I have to have some sort of LaCroix-love icon.

Oh god, no I love that show, even though they did kill off my favorite character between seasons (oh Schanke you deserved better). LaCroix is my absolute favorite type of vampire: Loving, well mannered, true to his principals evil. His relationship with Nick is so wonderful. I ached with every radio message he sent out -- the long suffering, paternal forgiveness. Of course as a parent I get mixed feelings, on one hand, the relationship is so definitely father/son, on the other hand, it's also evil and sexy, stalker and obsession.

But I watched all this like what, 15 years ago, late at night, on a basic cable channel? I wasn't aware that a fandom even existed for the show.

LaCroix will always be the epitome of what a vampire should be. It's really hilarious, sometimes, to read alot of these newer vampire books and see the shows, and I really just have to laugh at the way the vampires act. LaCroix was smooth and calculating and cruel in all the right ways, but his love for Nicolas is one of the most beautiful relationships I've seen in a long time. He loved Nicolas so much, and all he wanted was what he felt was best for Nick (whether Nick felt it was best for him or not), and the Brick was too stubborn to realise that until it was almost too late.

Forever Knight was my first true fandom. Back in the days before chat rooms and livejournal and ff.net, there was the forkni-l, the Forever Knight mailing list. And on the list you could discuss random things about the show, you could share your fiction and your fanart, and be around other people who were just as crazy about the show as you were. Which was really great, because I think I was the only one of my friends who had ever even heard of the show back then.

The best part, though, was the Wars. Giant round-robin style self-insert writing contests where the different fan factions got together and participated in the most cracked out challenges you could imagine. Working together along side the characters from the show, we would try and outcrack each other in the random things we could do. Kidnapping pet goldfish, erecting life-sized Spam statues of LaCroix in a tutu, crashing in Nicolas' loft and making him blush with our fangirlish behaviour... hilarity and crack and a general feeling of camaraderie that I've never been able to find in any other fandom. ForKni is still the best group I've ever been a part of, and we actually just had a war a few years ago, in commemoration of them finally releasing the show on DVD. Not bad for a group of people who've been together for over 10 years, and who are fans of a show that was canceled three times in it's three year run.

Are there any fic recs out there on the internet still?

Sounds like it was a great fandom once -- reminds me a bit of my first Fandom, FMA, which is still somewhat still alive, but not nearly as vital as it was 3 years ago. We had some great crack fanverses.

Oh, there's tons of great FK fic out there, what sort of fic do you like?

Pretty much anything you're looking for, you can probably find on one of the two main fic archives, FK Fanfic.com (http://www.fkfanfic.com/index.htm) and FK Fanfic 2 (http://www.fkfanfic2.com/index.php). Neither of the sites is very pretty, unfortunately, because they haven't really updated in a few years, but the stories are all there. I also really love re-reading the War Archives (http://www.fkfanfic.com/fanfic/wars.htm). They might not be as fun to read if you weren't involved in them, but they're always hilarious for me.

There's also the Virtual 4th Season (http://www.fkfanfic.com/v4s/eps.htm) which was a big community effort back in the day, to try and make the series finale Last Knight suck just a little bit less. Nothing much came of it, but it's a good read.

I'm pretty open to everything except fluffy romance, but I especially like multichaptered fics which depict complicated and fucked up relationships (er like LaCroix and Nick). I'll look there! 4th season huh, I assume this is the season where they turn back time and everything didn't go completely pearshaped in the last episode of 3.
