See, it's the blaming the sister for having the temerity to need family support during a difficult divorce that really gives off the strong whiff of troll.

You still gotta negotiate that shit out

No, because there were ulterior motives with how the sister did it. This is explicit.

If she'd called ahead, made arrangements, sure. Or she could have, I dunno, asked her parents if they're still around. Or a friend. But that she explicitly chose to dump her kids on her very busy sister she felt needed to have her own kids is what makes me think less of her.

Claire was likely not the only person in her life she could find support from, so shove the fuck off.

Nah. Did you actually watch the movie? It's very obvious that the visit was planned in advance, but that Claire got distracted and it slipped her mind.

If you have a crappy sibling who does this to you, I'm sorry. But your personal baggage is causing you to view this movie and this sibling relationship through a bizarrely hostile filter.

And your beautiful rosy image of all moms in the world is causing you to not see that Karen was planning this whether Claire wanted it or not, because Moms Are Perfect and clearly Claire could just say no and no matter what, the sister who thinks Claire needs to let go of her career a little and settle down and have kids isn't going to try and teach her sister a lesson (just like, you know, Ellie did to Dr. Grant in the original when there were kids around for her to shove subtly at him).

In all fairness, I never got the impression anyone except the mom and dad knew about the impending divorce? Even the younger son went on (admittedly obvious) evidence, and the older denied that they would ever be getting a divorce, and nothing Claire ever says or does indicates anything other than that her sister has asked her to show the boys around the park/look after them on this vacation.
