Unless everyone involved in making the movies is out, I don't think things will be any better.

The cast isn't the problem.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-19 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, but for the most part they're not helping.

DA Yeah, Cavill is not a great actor but can do perfectly well with a good director. Affleck is a lazy actor but can do *really* well with a good director. (Miller and Gadot were fine.) Zach Snyder is a major problem here.

I enjoyed Batfleck. I enjoyed all the Batmen for different reasons, to be honest.

I couldn’t stand Affleck, so I’m glad he’s out, but I did like Cavill. I just didn’t care much for the “Snyderverse”.

I was fine with the casting, it was everything else I didn't like so I can't imagine replacing them will change anything for me.

Same.

Yeah, I've been really impressed by how well cast the DC movies have been.

I think both of them would have been fine if the writing had been good.

That's my opinion. I've seen Cavill in other films and he can be quite charming, plus he has the Superman look about him. I also believe that Ben Affleck could make a great, older, more world-weary Batman. But like you said, they are both straightjacketed by terrible material and good acting can only do so much to save a shitty script.

I've never liked Ben Affleck and it has 100% killed any interest for watching any DC films with him in it, except for Suicide Squad (which only showed him very little). As for Cavill, I'm not much of a Superman fan but I did try to watch Man of Steel once and lost interest pretty quick, but I can't say it was because of Cavill. Either way, NO MORE BATFFLECK! That's a solid win in my book.

I think we just need to retire Batman for a while. And I say that as a huge Batman fan.

Although I'd be here for a genuine Batman Beyond style adaption.

I briefly misinterpreted this as saying they were both canonically gay.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-20 08:21 am (UTC)(link)
Me too! Except RL gay. Oh, well.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-20 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
For a second I thought you meant "out" out.

(Anonymous) 2018-09-20 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd just like to see WB make fun movies about individual DC heroes/characters for a while and not worry so much about the shared universe. I mean, you can still make it a shared universe without trying to create big "event" team-up films (like how the Shazam trailer shows that the story takes place in a world where Batman and Superman both exist). I'd like to see said movies be directed by different people and have different tones and styles and not all be Snyder-y always.
