When in Rome. She's a guest, she was specifically asked not to bring the dog and the cat shouldn't be made to feel terrified in her own house. It's inconsiderate. As a pet owner herself she should understand how introducing another animal into the house suddenly (especially a dog) can throw a cat into a panic. :(

Part of it is that she has her own cat who loves dogs and gets along with dogs. Though I'm not suree why she can't understand that different cats are different.
