Markus and Simon should have been the potential official ship instead of (or as an additional option to) Markus and the lady android (North?). Simon was clearly in love with Markus - there's even a possible scene where he ends up giving Markus his heart when Markus is critically injured. I think it was even confirmed by someone from the dev team afterwards?
Anyway, yes, it's a popular ship, but the main one was Hank/Connor last time I checked.

GOD Markus and Simon made SO MUCH MORE SENSE than fucking Markus and North. Where the fuck did the North romance come from? Especially if you went against literally everything she wanted to do by going the pacifist route, you can still end up with her. It made NO sense.
