I'm also still very upset with what they did with Loki in Infinity War. I agree it was a drawn out and graphic death (also OOC- Loki always has a trick up his sleeve- he's a trickster! He's not going to act so stupid). I feel like the way they ended his arc is a big 'fuck you' to his fans! As a result, I'm not too bothered with the next film. I agree they wasted potential on a very interesting storyline with Loki teaming up with the Avengers (I also have problems with other aspects of IW but won't get into it).
However, I am excited for this tv series. Is it a hint they'll revive Loki in IW 2? Or will it be set in the past?

Also disagree OP. Loki has always been a very popular character in the Marvel Universe. That's precisely why they kept bringing him back again and again.

I am going to be on the more pessemistic side and think this will be a prequel series rather than Loki after being revived from or escaping entirely that awful death.

I have a feeling you and I have had similar conversations before (or I've encountered someone on anon who agrees with us both!) in that I broadly agree with you and have different views on a few minor things. Overall, IW felt like "fuck you for thinking this guy could be important" etc.

I just feel that if they knew Loki is a popular character and has a big fanbase, they dispatched him in a fairly insulting way compared to if it were, for example, Thor or even Iron Man. Being a Loki fan has really opened my eyes to how little mainstream writers know how to deal properly with reformed villains and/or morally ambiguous characters who are perhaps unexpectedly popular. The writers and directors knew he was popular and decided to upset the fans anyway. I can't help feel all the pre-IW talk of "the opening scene will shock you!" was a load of shit because it was obvious Loki was going to bite it. One of the actual non-ambiguous heroes dying properly (not simply reversibly dusted) would've been shocking. Loki dying wasn't seeing as they basically sign posted it in the trailers.
