Who else is dealing with an annoying problem that they created for their own selves?

(Anonymous) 2018-09-23 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I have almost 300 pages worth of very dense historical text still to read ONLINE by Wednesday, because I have to write a review of this book for a class and it is due on Thursday, and I loathe reading books online more than almost anything academic ever. I don't know why but it goes way slower than reading physical books and I have great difficulty remembering what happened at which points of the book because it's just a continuous scroll. But I have no one but myself to blame for this predicament, because I only looked up the book a couple days ago, which is when I learned that the college library only has it in ebook format, and it was too short a timeframe to order a physical copy online. So I get to suffer because of my own laziness in not bothering to make sure ahead of time that I could get a physical copy. Who else is making themselves mad by a problem they caused themselves?

100 pages of skimming a day sounds very doable.

Copy/paste key points in a word doc as you go and bullshit your way through the review.

I can sympathize that this sounds unsurmountable, but you can do some half-assing here.

Me earlier today. A pretty dumb one too.

I ran out of food recipe posts in my likes list (which I use to keep so I can reblog them later) because I keep going on "apology food reblogging sprees" after I say something opinionated.

So I just spent prob half an hour searching and liking food posts because I am a dip who feels the need to apologize for being opinionated on my own blog because of the fear of pissing ANYONE off ever.

Just do what I do: Don't post opinions on your blog.

Research confirms your problems with reading books digitally, sooo if nothing else, you're far from alone. I'm all for new technology and all, but the only thong I can read digitally is easy stuff I won't care that I'll forget later.

I dunno how fast you read, but sriting brief summaries as you read might help you remember better. Good luck!

Yeah, it's weird how it works, I have no problem reading public domain mystery novels on my computer, but anything complicated is 10 times as hard.

It's like having a physical copy of the thing in your hands helps you pay more attention to it. It seems more real.

yeah, academic texts work better on paper according to a study.

I hate reading books online too. I had to read a few out of print books when I was in college and it sucked. I enjoyed them a lot more when I was able to get the library copies.

I have to change up my doll displays, but I have a dozen dolls to dress and style and it's gonna take me a few hours to get through them all. Why did I buy so many dolls?

Me. I screwed up my life and can't come back from it.

I screw up my own life all the time. Maybe this is the year I’ll finally not shoot myself in the foot.
