Eh, those don't bother me too much to be honest. I always see people talking about how they have all kinds of small details planned out in their AUs or NaNo projects that they won't ever need for the work itself, I think a lot of people in JKR's position would probably be like 'oh oh let me tell you this other thing I didn't get to put in the book!' And anyone who reads a fic and begs the author for more details or sidestories or tidbits is a huge hypocrite if they get mad at JKR for basically offering the same thing to her fans. Personally I'm tired of HP fandom (and a lot of other fandoms in general, for that matter) acting like they 'own' canon. It's JKR's world. If she wants to be excited about it and share other things she thought of she's totally within her rights to do that. No one has to read it or consider it canon, but she shouldn't have to never talk about the HP world ever because heaven forbid she contradict someone's headcanons.

I don't have a problem with her doing it, as such. I just don't like a lot of it because I think it's bad.

Like, the big thing in fandom right now is the Nagini reveal. And the Nagini reveal isn't very good.

The Nagini reveal is EXACTLY the same as a fanfic idea I had when I was 14, so I like it very much.
