I also waaaay preferred the LOTR movies to books. Most of the changes and cuts were absolutely great. The third film started to get a little too Peter Jacksoney in a bad way (fight scenes became a little too comical and the Arwen plotline a little yikes) but other than that, perfect movies. The books would never be taken up by any publisher these days, let's be real...
