Suikoden secret holy crap in a good way. :)

I never got the romantic angle with Gremio and Tir. I still don't see it, so many years later.

Especially when Ted was Right There. I swear, I tried to sequence-break that damn game so many times so Tir could go rescue his best friend. That crushed me.

Holy shit. When people said secret makers sometimes make secrets from comments in GC, I didn't realize they literally meant secrets from comments in GC.

Thanks for turning mine into this. I like the pic too.

1. HOLY SHIT A SUIKODEN SECRET. Whether it was originally in the GC or not (I missed it if it was) I don't care, this made my night.

2. I totally agree. I was surprised when I found out shipping them was so popular, because I ship pretty liberally but that one hadn't even occurred to me. But I have some friends who like it, so meh. I deal.

While I think (opinion) that Gremio was homosexual, I think that he felt more like a mother to Tir then an actual lover--. I also think that Gremio had a definite affection for Teo Mc'Dohl, which spurred him to protect Tir at all costs, like "The son of my love is my son." sort of angle.

Oh, as the person who originally wrote the secret, I made a thousand Gremiomommy jokes back in the day, but I honestly believe he was Tir's second (third?) parent.

I know of the story where Gremio got his scar trying to protect the kid from bandits, and then swore an oath to protect him always, but if the original motivation were tied to feelings for Teo, then I could see that happening. Once brought back (after collecting 108), I do wonder how Gremio took Teo's death.

The best thing about Suikoden was the motivations behind everyone's actions, and then the strong sense of family at the very end. I am not one who ships Tir generally because due to the rune he wears, I am sure that it would be very hard for him to forge any connections. But he did have a strong family unit, first from his father and then from Gremio and then Sonia.

So heartwarming.
