Same, I used to think it was silly when people said f/f ships were passed over by homophobes as "just gals being pals" because I didn't think anyone could be deliberately dense enough to see an onscreen kiss as platonic. But when the Ruby/Sapphire wedding and Bubblegum/Marceline confirmation happened within a month of each other, I realised they never would have passed the censors if the characters were male. F/f ships are more common in canon because it's easier not to take them seriously if you're uncomfortable with The Gay. It's depressing.
