nayrt but like

I agree with everything OP said but I also think the buckets of vitriol and tumblr-style 'everything is evil' is just...a bad trend for fandom

like, on the one hand people saying "creator perfect" is super aggravating, but I also think it's mostly a strawman? not entirely, because the internet has a lot of idiots, but I also think a lot of people KNOW she's not perfect and are just like....can we just let her be someone who made something really wonderful that also had a lot of flaws, who is pulling some dumbass stunts now for hype

do we have to scream about how she's THE WORST RACIST BIGOT EVER every time anyone mentions HP

which is also a strawman and not what OP is doing but...man I feel like I've seen a lot of it

also I think New Nagini is cringey as fuck but it's, like. tone deaf racist, not nazi racist, and we have actual nazis to worry about now, so maybe we could just. not? or just less? i'm so tired of Everything is Evil

I think that's totally fair and I definitely agree that a lot of people online do need to just, like, chill the fuck out about stuff. And it also makes it frustrating to have an actual conversation about the stuff when it has to bear the weight of all of that discourse on top of it - it distorts the conversation so much.
