My team isn't in it, so I'm mostly rooting against the Yankees - because fuck the Yankees, and because they broke that picket line in Boston - and against the Dodgers - because fuck the Dodgers.

If I have a team I'm rooting for, it's probably Milwaukee. They're fun.

Doctor Who S11E1

There was a new Doctor Who episode with a new Doctor! Did you watch it? What did you think?

Won't comment with spoilers until collapses. But I loved the episode so much. I knew I was going to love 13, but she's better than I could have imagined. Instant love. She may be my Doctor? But whatever the case, she is the Doctor. She makes who she is very clear from her first moment on screen. I'm so happy right now.

I agree with the other spoilery comments. I loved all of it except I don't think they needed to kill off the grandmother. It felt a little tacked on. But I love the new characters, I thought the alien was interesting, and 13 worked perfectly. She was the Doctor. Still finding herself, but the same instinct to help. And the same lack of plan but still being a hundred steps ahead of everyone else.

I liked the characters quite a bit. I liked 13 a LOT as a Doctor, I think Jodie is going to absolutely fucking crush it, and the others all have potential.

The episode itself was very, very flabby, but hopefully it'll pick up as they go along. Not every new Doctor can get a debute episode as good as The Eleventh Hour.

I always save the Christmas episode until the new season starts in case of cliffhangers, so I watched it yesterday, and I don't understand all the boohooing I saw about it when it came out? Like somehow the TARDIS malfunctioning and her falling out was misogynistic and that would never happen with a boy Doctor? Like, did we forget that Eleven pretty much crashed the TARDIS while regenerating, and so did Eight?

I just assumed it was from excess time vortex energy spilling out and making things go haywire.

I really enjoyed it. Thirteen was fun and I loved the new companions. There was just one spoiler-y thing I didn't like, but the rest was great.

Yes, that. I knew she wasn't going to make it because Thirteen has three companions, but I was hoping they'd keep her alive. Shame they didn't because I liked what I saw of her.

I did like her, but given the way that they set up the other characters, I can kind of see why they'd make that choice? I think the other characters have more growing to do, I guess.

I liked the old fella and the lady a lot - the old guy reminded me of Harry Sullivan a bit, which I think is a nice dynamic. But I didn't love the younger guy as much. I thought he was a little bland.

That's true, but I was hoping they'd spare her and she would stay at home for whatever reason (though she hardly seemed the sort who would willingly stay behind, which is probably why they killed her off).

For me, the younger guy was my favorite, though the police lady was a close second.
