Old white men don't want their race to die out, so they do what they can to control what women do with their uteruses, talking about how life is precious. I'm sure every now and then they express "concern" for a pregnant woman who's non-white, but I don't buy it.

For the record, I'm also white, so I'm not attacking white people as a whole (not that being white prevents me from doing so). I just think some are not being truthful about their position.

OK, I thought you were coming at it from a completely different angle there.

I think that's certainly a dimension of conservative politics around the issue - but I think it's more of an underlying, structural factor than a direct piece of reasoning. It's not that people directly believe that increasing the white race is the reason that abortion should be banned; it's more just another piece of the broader pattern of socially conservative views that buttresses their opposition to abortion, the same way that their rejection of women's autonomy in general supports it.
