This, he is a teenager with nothing special about him that randomly got super powers. Every teen wants that to happen to them.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-09 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
And not just that, but he still deals with teenage problems after getting them.

It almost seems weird to have to point this out.

Peter Parker wasn't a teenager all these years though? Only when Spiderman gets rebooted. He's usually an adult, I thought? Or a legal one, anyway.

The ur-Peter Parker is always a teenager, although the actually-existing versions of Peter Parker in various universes may not be (and often aren't).

(Anonymous) 2018-10-10 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
No he's not. The UR-Peter Parker and his supporting cast is college aged. Some rando isn't gonna know who the fuck Liz Allen, Betty Brant, or Flash Thompson is but they all know MJ, Gwen, Eddie, Norman, and possibly Felicia.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-10 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
They know MJ and that's it, realistically

(Anonymous) 2018-10-10 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
They definitely know Gwen and Eddie. The former because Gwen Stacey's death is up there with Uncle Ben and the Waynes. And Eddie because Venom is a break out in it's own right.

I don't agree

they might know Eddie right now because the movie just came out, but I would bet that 9 months ago, people might know who Venom was but they wouldn't know who Eddie was (if that makes sense). And if they know Gwen, it's only as "girl who died tragically". they don't have any background. Even with MJ, they probably would only really know her as "Spiderman's girlfriend".

You seem to be forgetting Venom was huge in the 90s. They might not know Eddie specifically but if you're u follow up with Venom people will go oh okay!! And yeah Gwen would be known as the girl who died, they might not know her as a character but they know who she is. Which is my point. Casual fans might not know who Barry Allen is for instance or any of his stories but if you say Barry Allen is the Flash they'll know who your talking about.

that won't happen with spider-man's high school cast.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-10 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
But if you said that Mary Jane was Peter's high school girlfriend, they would also be like "Oh, yeah, that sounds right"

which she was in the Raimi movies btw

(Anonymous) 2018-10-10 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
She wasn't. She didn't get with Peter till he was in college in the Raimi trilogy. In fact, Peter was in high school for all of five minutes in the Raimi movies. Peter's college cast has been supplanted to be in high school but it doesn't make it any less true that his college class and stories are the UR-spider-man era even if marvel keeps dipping him in high school paint.
