Funko Pops are undeniable proof of geek culture's declining aesthetic sense. No merch at all is preferable to getting the Funko Pop treatment. Beanie Babies are at least cute on some level.

I think they are cute.

How? They're all in a default pose with large black eyes that shows zero of their personality. Anytime I see funko pop of a character I like, I am filled with a great sense of uneasiness.

Some of them are pretty cute. I never liked the older ones because all the poses were the same (especially the boy ones because of they way their legs were bowed out), but the newer ones aren't too bad and there's a little more thought and detail put into them. I have a Sam Winchester one that came with Baby and it's got his worried eyebrows, which amuses me greatly.

My main complaint is that some of the girls (like Moana and Clara Oswald) don't stand well even with the provided stands. Moana's okay if I move her head, but Clara looks like she's going to tip over no matter how I pose her. And some of them (like the new Digimon ones) just look downright creepy.

I bought some putty stuff to keep my decorative junk from being knocked over by my cats. Quakehold Putty. It keeps my top heavy Pop figures from falling down.

Thanks for the tip, anon! I'll look into it.

Speak for yourself. I was never going to get merch of some of my faves, and it's nice to have SOMETHING. I also find them cute! But according to you, I'm apparently tasteless instead of having different tastes.

(Spoilers: most plushies don't show personalities either.)

Art is subjective to an extent, but it's pretty damn obvious that funko pops are made with only mass production and profit in mind.

You mean...like most merch?

Oh, sorry, I didn't know fandom merch was meant to be 100% high art

Someone who enjoys eating their own vomit doesn't have different taste, they have shit taste. Some things are objectively disgusting.
