So the thing is, they didn't wait long enough to see if anybody would want them. They have to hold onto them for at least 40 years because that's when kids who grew up may now be looking back at their childhoods with nostalgia. Beanie Babies have only been around for 25. It's way too early to say if they'll increase in value or not.

There are these plastic egg toys from my childhood that are now selling on ebay for a ton of money.

Nah, if they were going to increase in value, they would have started by now. I've sold loads of other things from the 80s and 90s for a lot of money but Beanies are still hovering in the $3-5 range.
