There's no way they'll have the budget to feature even half of the locations and massive battle scenes that were in the original. Without those, what's the point?

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I figure there'll be a lot of bad CGI...

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
that seems like kind of a limited view of remakes tbh

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
elaborate? big scenes and fancy magic seem pretty integral to the avatar franchise

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Good news, you don't have to watch it!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll be honest, I'd probably enjoy Avatar The Last Airbender a little more if it were just a bit darker and edgier. So I'm looking forward to it. I like the story fine, I just think I'd like it more if it were played out a little less kiddish. I actually preferred Korra because that one felt a little more mature.

Well, the way I see it is that, even if it’s godawful it’s still gonna be better than that shitshow of a live action film.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? We've already hit rock-bottom. Anything else is going to be a step up.

I'll give it a watch to see if I like it, I don't expect adaptions to be fully 100% to the original canon(even if they claim it) so I can usually roll with the punches.

And if I don't like it it's not as if the cartoon will be erased so I'll still have that.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah i really don't think it's going to add anything. and after the legend of korra i think last airbender was a fluke for them or something....

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's that the creators aren't what made ATLA good, it was the supporting staff (which didn't carry over to Korra).

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Korra > ATLA

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
You'll have to explain this one.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
On m end, it felt like Korra was allowed to have major, long-standing losses that completely wrecked her. It didn't only last for maybe an episode or two as a major consequence then get reduced to just background dressing.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
sounds biased a bit. korra immediately gets her bending back, her wheelchair comes off in a timeskip and the way her ptsd is handled dumb so im not going to count it.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
unless you mean that we got to see her brutally tortured a lot in which case eyeroll

(Anonymous) 2018-10-13 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
The setting was more unique and interesting, and most importantly, it didn't have Aang in it.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-12 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I just recently marathoned the series and I just feel like it’s so good it doesn’t NEED reimagining. A live action version just feels unnecessary and odd, and I’m not looking forward to it.

I think the original cartoon was awesome as hell and there really isn't any point in doing a remake/reboot/reimagining or whatever you want to call it. I wish more of these people would do something more original.

I've been trying to convince myself that it won't be bad but the truth is I could have written this secret. At best it's totally unnecessary.

I don't mind reboots/reimaginings of things that weren't that good to begin with (looking forward to the She-Ra remake for example) but this show was practically perfect to begin with. What's even the point? It's like all the recent Disney live-action remakes - you got it right the first time, guys!
