162. I like that relationship because it was emotionally abusive. Hell, I call this secrets "What Not To Do in A Relationship 101". While I think they're in love with each, but gawd, they're completely wrong for each other and the other characters point it out constantly too. But I grimace when fans ignore that Shuuichi is extremely needy and constantly needs confirmation from Yuki and Yuki is the one of the biggest assholes to exist in manga/anime and has way too many issues to be in a relationship. I think they prolly view it as Shuuichi as the savior to Yuki or something. Crap, I think that's why I like Ryouki/Hatsumi in Hot Gimmick...

And in b4, "You support abusive relationships!" or something silly like that.

174. What as shipping-wise? I think they're following the manga closely so far. I like Chikage and Tachibana as friends who can depend on each other despite being master and servant.

181. Because slashing always destory brotherly love and male friendships, amirite? Seriously, people, just stop it already. I haven't seen watched this show (WW 1+2 stuff never been my kinda thing, but if it was set in the Civil War, I prolly would watched it). But that complaint annoys me quite frankly.

Misses the point =/= destroys. My point is that they already have a deep, connecting love that doesn't need the hawt mansechs to make it more meaningful/better/whatever.

Sorry about that, but it's still annoying. It can keep the camarderie even in romance. Your secret is making like that bond can't exist in a romantic setting and if you ship and write about it in that fashion, it's ignoring that bond or it can't co-exist with it.

It's not that sex makes it more meaningful/better/whatever. It's that in some cases, at least if you go by the miniseries, the slash is just THERE. When you have an entire platoon of future officers saying that Winters and Nixon (at least as they are portrayed in the miniseries) are all but making out onscreen, it's there. When you have an 80-some year old WWII veteran saying that he thinks that quite a few of the guys are doing things that are decidedly against regulations to do with another male, it's there.

Now, you'll get no argument from me that it could very easily be seen as disrespectful. Some will argue the point, some won't (and I'm part of the latter group).

Barring all that jazz about missing the point and whatnot, sometimes people just write something because they enjoy it and they think others will too. If you're going to argue against it in the Band of Brothers fandom, then you should get on over to every other fandom that has RPS and argue against it there, and once you're done, get thee to the fandoms based on fictional series and start arguing against all non-canon pairings because clearly that's disrespectful of the creator's intent.

Wait, is that from the Rescue Arc? See, I was thinking it wasn't, because I'd think even that much armor would be way too heavy for Griffith in the condition he was in.

Yeah, it was when they were inside the caravan after the rescue. I think Guts knew that it might be heavy on Griffith but he didn't want to knock down Griffith's pride after all he been though over the year and the guilt of leaving him.

Ah, ok. Thanks. I actually might not have the volumes that far (I came to the series through the anime).

To be a little clearer, I mentioned relationship and not ship. I was originally going to use the later over the former, but I knew that there was really no way the anime would do any plugging of Chikage/Tachibana in terms of them being in a closer physical/emotional relationship, considering there was zero to no hints or mentions in the manga. Instead I wanted to focus on seeing them interact more, and as you mentioned, watching their friendship play out more. I would much more enjoy seeing that than anything that would drive the fangirls crazy. I admit, I would give an arm and a leg to see the Chikage/Tachibana card played at least once, but there was no way that was going to happen (especially if you've seen the Antique Bakery doujinshi Fumi Yoshinaga has done).

In other words, I would just love to see more of Chikage acting like an overprotective puppy dog and Tachibana as a frustrated mother hen of sorts. I know the anime is doing a rather good interpretation of the manga, but it would make me terribly happy to see those two in particular interract more. :(

Then have you read the official doujinshi by Yoshinaga? One even thrown a bone for Chikage/Tachibana fans. But the doujinshi tend to lean towards Chikage/Ono though.

Um, considering I mentioned them in my reply, I was pretty sure that would assure you that yes, I have read them. I absolutely adore Kouzuka no Ehon (the specific doujin you're referring to where the group of girls from the end of volume 4 come back to the Antique and end up slashing everyone left and right, and one of them comes up with a Chikage/Tachibana situation) because of the fact that Yoshinaga specifically catered to her slash fanbase and plugged various pairings that I'm sure many people were thinking of while reading the series. I especially can't be anymore greatful than I am for the Chikage/Tachibana bit.

No, I'm not a writer.

To be honest, I did very little to explain the secret in clearer terms. I was just pointing out that no, I did not use the term ship in the secret, which the original commentor actually used when refering to my secret, otherwise the whole thing would have sounded like a whiny fangirl wanting to see her favorite pairing play out for real in an anime. I said relationship, which can be interpreted in various ways (friendship, normal human interraction, romance, etc.)

I actually feel that I did a decent enough job of describing my situation, much better than most people would usually try to do. I knew it was going to be tricky and that I would have to closely watch what words I chose to explain what it was I was feeling, and I think I did that well.

Maybe my first impression wasn't unclear, you just didn't take the time to try and understand it. :/
