Confirm my personal canon: Detective Sergeant Paul Milner (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foyle%27s_War#Paul_Milner) of Foyle's War (b. ~1909) is the grandfather of Detective Sergeant James Hathaway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detective_Sergeant_James_Hathaway) (b. ~1978) of Inspector Lewis. It totally makes sense. Hathaway is the son of Milner's daughter Clementine (b. 1945).
