I mostly feel this way. But I liked the trailer, so I have a slight bit of hope that maybe she'll pull it off.

I don't think it is hate to say that she's not the kind of actress who can pull of this sort of role. SHe's great as Sansa. But Jean is fiery, feisty, bold. And Phoenix is terrifying. Sophia is a softer actress. She's better for different kinds of roles.

This. Phoenix killed entire worlds and Sophie doesn't give that kind of vibe.

Someone must have faith in her, but she was so flat as Jean Grey that I can't understand why. Then again, it's not like any of the new kids were that stellar and the whole series relies now on Fassbender and MacAvoy.

I was hoping her awfulness as Sansa was part of her character with that bored superior tone alternated with almost-tears. I've seen other actors be meh in something and amazing in other works. But Jean Grey was exactly the same. I'm a Brit and I thought her Grey was British because that didn't sound American at all, just her normal bland delivery.

I've given up on film adaptations of comics tbh

Currently Reading Kingdom Come (Superman) and I'm forgetting that Man of Steel exists lmao

Yeah, she seems more adapt for supporting not leading roles.

I thought she did better in Apocalypse than in GOT, but that's not saying much.

Eh, I don't think it's going to be a good movie, but I don't think she's the reason why. She'll be so CGIed that it's not really going to matter what she does.

My only hope for the movie is for it to act as a proper send-off to this iteration of X-Men. Logan was great, but it's more Wolverine's farewell letter than the X-Men's. Days of Future Past could nearly have been that movie, but then they had to tack on Apocalypse and drag the universe on, so. No high hopes for the Dark Phoenix plot itself, but just give me some scenes of X-men being X-men, thanks.
