I know it's not the same thing, but I'm Catholic and I've always loved shows like Trinity Blood and Blue Exorcist that borrow elements from Catholicism. Why? I'm not exactly sure, but the coolness aspect is definitely a big part of it. Granted, I'm not a super observant Catholic and my parents definitely had a problem with me watching Trinity Blood back in the day because it had "witchcraft" or whatever.

The witchcraft was a problem but not the vampires? The murdering priest vampires?

Of course. Because witchcraft exists, and vampires do not.
