103. I'm that way with Firefly. I still say "folk" instead of "people" half the time.
123. Aw, crochety, but it makes me smile. I've been reading George R. R. Martin's book of short stories, and between that and vauge childhood memories, I'm kind of sad that I missed out on the old days of fandom.
But then, without internet fandom, I was just plain isolated for years. And I never had that long an attention-span anyway.
126. Mm. It's really more an excuse to behave like a disillusioned teenager at the age of 30 than a religion. Okay, fine so that's second-hand knowledge, but from the one guy I knew who I'd figure would go over if given the chance.
144. Wow. I'm only vaugely acquainted with Hornblower, and that annoys me. I know what you mean about the shipping. Gah, I didn't ship Frodo/Sam, not even a little bit, back when I first read it, but after just being in general fandom for so long, when I went back and read it, all these little bits jumped out at me, and made me feel sad. I don't ship it, but now I hate seeing the semi-sexual side to everything.

Fantasize about themselves? Take a look at all the OC's--people do. Plenty of people.
Shipping isn't about that (good shipping, anyway). It's about character interaction. Ugh. It has nothing to do with sex.
Okay, no, I know, sex comes into play, yes. But when people really really ship, it's because the canon interaction/personalities of the characters in question just make a good dynamic.
But then, this was so ignorant and so crassly worded that it must be a troll.

189. Um. Sorry, as far as the movie goes, how does the actor not reflect on the character? Good actors bring something unique to the table. If anyone else had played the Joker, it wouldn't've been that Joker (I can guaruntee, people would've still sought to hit it). But I love you laughing at people getting turned on because Hot Actor Is Hot. Yes, yes he was. He was the character. Yeesh.
Why not whine about people getting turned on by, well, anyone in any movie, then. "If he was played by someone ugly..."
