THE FINGER SCENE. WHEN OWEN CUTS OF JOHNNY'S FINGER AND IS LIKE, "DON'T WORRY. I LOVE YOU. YOU'RE GOING TO BE FINE." I FUCKING DIE EVERY TIME. EVERY SINGLE TIME IT KILLS ME. AND WHEN OWEN SAVES HIM WHEN JOHNNY IS ABOUT TO FALL DOWN THE STAIRS. EVERYBODY IN THE UNIVERSE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK. IT MADE MY LIFE COMPLETE. OP NEEDS TO FREAKING COME OUT OF THE WOODWORK AND BE BEST FRIENDS WITH ME. I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

Yes, I--I did. But it's very short and reads like a rough draft and sort of a WIP and yes. Consequently it is f-locked, but I don't mind if you friend me just to read it. It's over here (http://twelve.livejournal.com/36371.html). Plz don't kill me.

I knowww. Non-practicing homosexual, indeed. That's one of my favorite parts. I was talking to my (male) English teacher about how gay Johnny is for Owen, and when I told him about that part in particular, he said, "So THAT'S why my friend named John came out after reading the book." I died right then and there. Just about melted in a pile of fangirl goo.

Whoa, whoa, and WHOA. That's... interesting, very interesting. :D

Seriously, though, I'm wondering if Irving intended us to draw the conclusion that Johnny loved Owen "in that way." I didn't think so the first time I read it, but after, say, the twenty-sixth time I can't read it *without* assuming that's what he was going for. Not that there aren't asexual people in the world, but the "non-practicing homosexual" seemed to indicate something else, and poor Johnny's so broken after Owen dies, like... there's a piece of himself missing.

Agh, depressing myself and probably you. Will stop now. :P
