126 - Letting fandom influence your religious choices = usually a bad idea. Especially if it's an allegory.

Only Christians follow the Bible, so you're pretty much only knocking Christianity. Which isn't even original anymore, so find somewhere else to redirect your angst.

Jews follow a certain amount of the Old Testament, and Islam takes parts of the OT too.

Also, it IS an allegory. It's no more silly to base a religion from one allegory than another.

Jews have the Tanakh, and I would know because my husband is a Jew. It's not the same thing as that chopped-up abomination most Christians get as "the Bible".

The Qu'ran is very different from the Bible -- check the story of Christ's crucifixion for example, and see how the version in the Qu'ran is totally different.

Just because all of these religions believe in the same God, doesn't mean they use the same texts.
