They basically got trolled off. :( They're actually still around on LJ and DW, but given the trolling I'd rather not say their name.

I just feel bad because at the time, I had a very poor understanding of Dissociative Identity Disorder. So while I wasn't mean and tried to be open-minded, and actually didn't think they were faking, I did think they needed to get a lot more help than they were getting. I've since learned that alters are pretty normal, and a lot of people with it handle the disorder the way they do. So I'm really sorry for judging.

While the trolls were nasty and awful, you weren't wrong to think they needed more help than they were getting. I actually do know a lot about DID, and being so traumatized by their rape that they killed off their original persona so they wouldn't have to deal with it is not a typical clinical manifestation and is not a sign of someone who is getting adequate help to deal with a trauma. Plus there was the bit where they were perpetually semi-homeless. All of that is a failure of the system though, not a personal failing of theirs.

Okay, that I had not heard about. I knew their original persona had been "raped to death" but didn't know the personalities killed the original. Definitely a sig that one needs a lot more help.

If you weren't mean to them I think there's no reason to feel guilty.

I've been watching tv series about this but I'm still pretty clueless about DiD.

What? Who told you alters are normal and the way she handled it was common? Acting like your alters are some very conspicuous group of early 2000s deviantart OCs and they are married to each other and you act them out like some very awkward chat-style roleplay is definitely not the common way to act for DID patients, nor is it in any way healthy (and it also was the main reasons plenty of people were skeptical about her).
