I thought BP was overrated (as in, not quite worthy of Oscar buzz) but if you were paying any attention you'd know this was not the popular reception at all.

I agree it isn't an Oscar movie, but then again I thought Dark Knight was overrated in that way too. I think you can have genre movies that are the deep, message kind of movie that is an Oscar movie. But neither of those two were that. They were entertainment with some depth to them, but not Oscar movies. And that's okay. They are a different kind of thing, but no less valuable.

Oh, I agree, I was just saying only by that Oscar yardstick would I consider it unworthy of some of the praise it's getting. Like, it's overrated but just barely, and it's hard to scoff at all the hype.
