I think a few different things here.

- I think a female James Bond would be fine, and good, and I would probably like it.
- I think that not casting a female James Bond is not ipso facto proof of sexism.
- I think that ruling out forever the idea of casting a female James Bond is a little silly, and probably not necessary.
- I think that both gender-flipped versions of old characters, and new female characters, are good.
- I think that wanting to see new female characters is a valid thing to want, and so is wanting to see gender-flipped versions of old character.s
- James Bond is a pretty shitty character, both for political and non-political reasons, and most of the James Bond movies aren't good, so I personally have no particular attachment to the character anyway.
- Challenging the kind of stupid regressive machsimo that is frequently associated with the James Bond movies is, on balance, a good thing.

In conclusion, everyone's fine, everything's all right.

I was very pleasantly surprised considered what others have said about her acting.

Also, despite her being a blank slate, Rey comes off way more interesting to me than Jyn. Maybe it was the writing of the characters. Maybe it was the acting. But Jyn just seems like a really bland character, even with her backstory.

So, like, yes, Who fandom - like all fandoms to an extent, and more than some - tends to be grumbly about whatever is actively being made.

But also, not everyone agreed with those criticisms of RTD, now or at the time, any more than everyone agreed with the criticisms of Moffat.
