But I'm tired and in pain and I know I'm reading into it. I'm just sick of the question. The answer right now is always no.

(Anonymous) 2018-10-26 01:52 am (UTC)(link)You're right, sometimes people ask repeatedly when they've already heard your answer. There's lots of different reasons for it. It's not necessarily that they're trying to force a positive response from you, but they might be anxious and this is how that anxiety and worry manifests. Or they sense that there's more to the story you're not telling them and this is their way of trying to give you a chance to tell the rest.
What would happen if you said,(patiently and with genuine desire to know the answer) "Dad, we just had a really long conversation about this. Is there a reason you're asking me again?"
