What was your favorite Halloween costume when you were a kid?

Mine was the devil. My mother made me a red cape and I had a long plastic pitchfork and devil horns. I loved it. :)

I sprained my ankle one Halloween so I dressed up as a hurt cheerleader.

Also, I was once Xena Warrior Princess. That was pretty awesome.

I went as Luke Skywalker for 7 different years. I was really obsessed with Star Wars and with Luke.

I dressed up as Nancy from Oliver Twist when I was a kid. I had a children's version of the book and it had an illustration of Nancy all bloodied up after being murdered, so I wore a pioneer costume my mom had made me last year (Nancy's clothes in the book reminded me of a pioneer girl's) and drenched myself with ketchup. People thought I was a zombie pioneer girl.

I don’t really have fond memories of any of my Halloween costumes until I was a teenager—I was (still am) a total nerd who dressed up all the way through high school. My asshole maternal grandfather threw my grandma’s wedding dress in the wash and ruined it, but my mom kept it anyway. Once I hit puberty I dug out the long satin slip and the shredded gauze dress and made myself up as a dead bride. A couple years later my mom threw the dress away—her mom died before I was born and I think my costume freaked her out a bit.

One year in high school I made disturbingly organic looking fairy wings that looked like I’d pulled them off something. I still love doing over the top costumes.

hard tie between a butterfly and Danger Mouse

the butterfly I made myself, cardboard wings, very painstakingly painted with an elitist motive - I specifically chose a viceroy because it has the same color as a monarch but different pattern so that I could rub it everyone's face when they called me a monarch butterfly and I could say "no, I'm a viceroy!" but then rain ruined the wings so. instant karma, tiny me.

and Danger Mouse was just Danger Mouse and I had no idea why the other kids didn't recognize it because I legit thought everyone had cable and could watch it on Nickelodeon but apparently we were rich so.
