I always appreciated Smallville!JKent because he was a hottie, and between him and the actor who played Clark, it was eye candy galore. I'm a woman of simple tastes.

I do appreciate the CW's commitment to casting hotties in everything.

I loved him too.

As an adult I appreciate how suspicious he was of Lex. No you cannot lure pretty teenage boys to your mansion and buy them cars. That is weird. Stop doing that.

Wait, is that Bo Duke? He looks *fabulous*!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-29 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, he's still got it!

(Anonymous) 2018-10-29 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Does he ever!

I know someone who dated the Other Duke briefly (before the DOH show) and I always thought "Why couldn't it have been the hotter one, though?"

I remember when I first saw him in Smallville, thought to myself "HOT DAMN!" and then I realized I liked Pa Kent MORE than I liked Clark. Man, I felt old in that moment.

On the other hand, yes, he was the BEST Pa Kent in any live action adaptation and retroactively ruined any other Pa Kents for me.

I liked Smallville!JKent, though my favorite would be the Kents from Lois and Clark.

Jonathan Kent is one of the shining spots of early!SV. I watched it for the first time earlier this year and I struggled through. Jonathan and Martha made it worth it though.

I don't know anything about the comics canon, but Jonathan was always one of my favorite parts of Smallville in the two years that I watched it.

My favorite Kents are the DCAU version: just ordinary farmers who love their adopted alien son and take all this alien stuff in stride.

I compare all of Clark's dads to Smallville's. If there isn't a hand on shoulder 'son...' moment, I will be very disappointed... That said, I really do hate the character, maybe, not really, even the actor for being so good at playing him;; It gives Clark the context vital to his character.
The closest equivalent on screen would be the one scene in 'Man of Steel' (I think;;) where Johnathan scolds Clark for saving a busload of children, because it might reveal his identity;;
I feel like I'm missing the boat here- but I love it all the same!;;

I don't know who he is, but damn, he's gorgeous.

John Schneider, who came to fame in the 70s with the TV series, The Dukes of Hazzard.

He sure was fun to watch. Wasn't a huge fan of his whole "the sins of the father" thing with Lex... yeah, we all knew he was going to turn out to be evil, but it's still kind of a crappy attitude. Still, he was a good dad and a hottie, so you know. Lucky Martha ;)

I never watched Smallville except for the very first episode and the episode when Tom Wopat showed up as the old buddy driving a blue Charger.

Good times.

That being said, I have met John Schneider in person, and while I disagree with his politics, he's still a very nice guy. I cherish that meeting and how nice he was to the fans who stood out in the hot sun for hours to meet him.
