Hmm, I hate him and would much prefer that he die in the next movie, but I think he could undo some—not all—of the damage if he somehow destroyed the First Order and died saving Leia.

This. Also, I think Vader was actually much worse and killed more people. If he could be redeemed, so can Kylo.

AYRT—I agree that Vader killed more people, and I guess that he was worse as a result, but Kylo Ren as he’s been presented in the films seems worse to me because Vader as Vader was less, idk, inclined to tantrums, and as Anakin at least felt affection and had hobbies and stuff.

Kylo seems like the human personification of seething resentment, to me, with almost nothing in the way of redeeming qualities. Vader thought he’d killed his wife and unborn children and became the Emperor’s lapdog. Kylo Ren killed his father not because he thought Han had betrayed him, but because he saw his own humanity as something hindering him to be destroyed. Idk, I’m probably not making much sense.

Vader was a more competent murderer than Kylo, to be sure, but the movies also spent some time establishing that he had some strength of character, even if it had been warped and twisted by the Emperor, and that finding out that his child(ren) lived was causing him to question his loyalty to the Empire. And as much as I dislike the prequels for their shitty story-telling and contradictions to the original trilogy, one thing they do very well is show Anakin's potential for good and evil, before evil finally won the day.

The new movies have only shown that inside Kylo's murderous, unstable outer shell is a whiny, entitled manbaby with anger management issues... who also likes to murder people. He isn't irredeemable because he's "gone too far." He's irredeemable because the audience has been shown nothing worth redeeming.
