I had a bad experience there and haven't been back. It's possible it was just that one store, or just a one-off that happened that day but I don't really feel like I'm missing out.

Bad in terms of the products or the service? Not to be contrary, but...if you're on a budget, aldi is fantastic for saving money. And that's not taking into account the nice deals on fancier foodstuffs, wine and household goods. Quality of meat and produce can vary from location to location, though.

Both tbh. I know a lot of people like it and save money but the stores I like have great deals too, so eh. I guess my experience isn't typical but the time I went in there was one cashier working and a bunch of people with overflowing carts - who were standing in line and going back adding more stuff to the carts (that part's not the store's fault, obviously). I was buying one thing. I felt bad for the cashier and the place was a mess. Idk didn't seem worth it to me but a lot of people are happy going there and that's fine.
