In general: since photoshop and professional photography

Carrell-specific: since not purposely looking/acting like a weird manchild with a terrible haircut, like in most of his comedic roles lol

I remember thinking that when I saw the Get Smart movie a number of years back :D. I was totally crushing on him throughout that film (and started watching "The Office" afterward because of said crush :p). He's definitely aging nicely, I agree.

He's not hotter, he's just got a salt and pepper beard and glasses.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-03 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
...which clearly make him hotter to a subset of people.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-03 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
it's not Steve Carell that's hot

the beard and glasses are hot, and Steve Carell happens to be around them

I think he is but I'm reminded of that meme about video game designing.

"A white man: ._."
"A white man WITH A BEARD AND STUBBLE: :O :O :O!"

Holy shit, salt and pepper looks good on him.

Never been a fan of his acting or humor, though.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-03 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't get past his voice and his weird expressions, but you do you, OP.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-03 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I've always found him oddly attractive, tbh.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-03 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, the best hair plugs in Hollywood

(Anonymous) 2018-11-03 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I agree with you OP, he really has gotten gradually more attractive year after year.

I suspect there's a lot of factors at play. Firstly, I definitely do think he got hair plugs (very, very good hair plugs) way back around S2 of The Office. Secondly, he seems like he really stepped up his fitness/diet regimen over the years, because I definitely remember him looking a bit heavier and a lot doughier when The Office began. He's also probably having various skin treatments (laser peels, probably some fillers, etc). Plus he's got people helping him pick clothes that flatter him, and he's probably getting better haircuts that he did before he became well and truly successful in Hollywood. Plus, magazines are now photographing him with the intent to make him look as good as possible (with lighting, photoshop, etc.) - whereas before I think it was often the intent to NOT make him look too good, because the characters he was playing were often not supposed to be particularly attractive and they wanted to keep his image consistent with that.

He looks good with facial hair and is probably looking fitter because he may be working out.
Having said that...when he's filmed from the right side his nose looks REALLY long.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-04 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
And for some of us that's a plus too. Adrien Brody, yum.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-04 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
He broke his nose THREE TIMES.

(Anonymous) 2018-11-04 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ouch. Not so sexy then. Sorry.

He does do an awful lot of cringe humor, doesn't he?

(Anonymous) 2018-11-04 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
I can't figure out what I've seen him in because I also don't go for that type of humor (or drama).

(Anonymous) 2018-11-04 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
Must be the beard and the morose expression, because I felt this way about his character in Little Miss Sunshine (out while he was still doing The Office), who had a beard and was often morose.
litalex: Jefferson from John Adams, lounging around (LOL!Jefferson)

I think there are some men who just look better with a beard, eg., Riker from Star Trek and Hugh Laurie.

Even StephVen!!!!

For me Steve is always associated with the "Even StephVen"-segment of old school The Daily Show.
