There are a lot of complicated details and nuances - there are with everything in life. For pretty much any given topic, if you don't know what to say about it, you can say "it's complicated" and you'd be right.

At the same time, you can have complications existing and also have a broad sweeping generalization that's largely true/correct/useful/meaningful at the same time.
