chowder is by definition a milk-based soup
Velvet Goldmine is an awesome movie and haters were just homophobic

Velvet Goldmine was pretty boring. I think Oscar Wilde would be disappointed.

shrug sorry you feel like that, I fucking love that movie

Dammit, now I feel bad.

I mean, it was spectacular, and McGregor and Rhys Meyers were definitely on top of their game. But I don't think homophobia is the only reason someone would dislike it because I'm hardcore into slash and just remember being rather disappointed when I saw it.

Anyway, totally agree about chowder.

I'm pretty sure a movie from the same year, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, made me a slasher. Getting to meet Eddie Izzard probably had a lot to do with it too.

Yeah, I agree - I thought it was gonna be boy-on-boy fantastic *something*, and it was really amazingly tame.
Still a good movie, just - not what i was hoping for.

Yes. Chowder is milk=-based. And the only real clam chowder is New England clam chowder.

I guess I know of different variations of clam chowder- but when is chowder not milk/cream based?? (isn't that a bisque??)
I am wracking my mind about this, and all I have to say is I know shit all about soups;;

There's something calling itself "Manhattan clam chowder" which is just minestrone with clams in it. (And I'm from New York City before I moved to Calif!)

Oh my... I see what you mean...
They might as well not even added clams!
