I'm sure that applies to everyone else passing judgement on Rowling.

I don't know. All I can speak for is myself.

That said, I do think there's a valid position to say that you dislike Brolin and are angry that the producers cast him but are still willing to watch Infinity War, the same way that you can say that you dislike Depp and are angry the producers cast him but are still willing to watch Beasts. There's a lot of different places where you can draw your personal lines. It's complicated.

I don’t marvel but the reason Rowling gets shit on is because she never STFUs about justice/being woke and when people called her out on it she blocked them. Add onto the fact that motherfuvking Harry Potter himself DanRad said what the shit at Depp’s casting made her look worse. No one at Marvel pretends to be woke or have commented on Hollywood scandals. Who are they going to ask? Most marvel actors have shown their asses on multiple occasions and Fiege is a known republican. No one was under any allusions marvel was “woke”. (They’ll lie and eat up shit like black panther and captain marvel but wholeness was never at the forefront of marvel like JKR promoted HP was)

I mean... The James Gunn fiasco though?

DA James Gunn getting fired was surely more because because of his anti-Trump tweets than offensive tweets that are more than four years old.

James Gunn is a different ballpark and Disney knew exactly what they were doing when they hired a man who had his start with Troma films. Not only that they kotowed to an actual alt-righter who is on a whole other level of James Gunn. Disney/Marvel fucked themselves hard with that.

This, David Heyman commented by basically calling AH a liar, so JKR afterwards defending him and buying his boat pretty much indicates her agreement, which is in keeping with her previous attitude towards women (calling out celebutantes for being poor role models while staying hush on famous men and their far more dangerous behaviour) but doesn't fit in with her desire to be seen as woke on twitter.

Marvel not commenting is what I'd expect from a corporation that doesn't give a shit, but it was probably smarter. When they/Disney sacked James Gunn for 'moral' reasons is where they showed their ass, because it leaves them open for people to call out their hypocrisy in repeatedly hiring actors and directors who've actually committed crimes.
