I was literally taught it was an acronym for that in 11th grade history. Not saying you're wrong, just saying that some people have good reason for believing that little factoid. Not just, "durrr I believe everything anyone tells me."

I have absolutely known intelligent people who believed it, so I am sure you are right that many people have good reason. I'm kind of surprised they are teaching it in schools but I guess the teacher had a good reason to believe it too. Anyway it's not like explaining "fuck" is going to be on your SATs or something.
